Residential and Multi-Family Affordable Housing Programs in Canada

October 25, 2018 • 1 pm (ET)

There is a trend in energy efficiency programming across Canada.  From province to province, there is a focus on providing low income residents the chance to reduce their bills and reduce the burden of energy costs.   Hear from both a veteran in energy efficiency and the new kid on the block - BC Hydro and Energy Efficiency Alberta (EEA). They will explore programs offered to residents in the low-income segment. Each presenter will discuss program design details, including differing customer acquisition and qualification criteria, incentive structure and product offerings that help address energy poverty in their respective provinces.

British Columbia has a long history of designing and delivering energy efficiency programming.  The presentation will include details on a number of programs that provide support to low income customers, including Energy Conservation Assistance Program (ECAP) and the Energy Savings Kit (ESK) program.   Meanwhile, Energy Efficiency Alberta is leading the charge in designing and recently launching their Affordable Housing Energy Solutions Program. This program addresses energy poverty through providing support to residents living in Housing Management Bodies (HMBs) and includes a variety of support for participants in residential and multi-family housing.
