What AESP Members Need to Know about DERS Brown Bag

September 22, 2016 • 1:00 pm (ET)

DERs (Distributed Energy Resources) is a “catch-all” term that covers everything related to electricity use that can be done “behind the meter” at the premises and facilities of customers. The term was created because the list of possibilities has grown from energy efficiency and demand response to include electricity generation (including CHP) using fuel-driven engines and fuel cells, electrical and thermal storage, solar PV, and wind generation.  As their customers increasingly becoming simultaneous producers and consumers, the technical problems on the grid and financial effects on electric utilities are quite serious.  These changes also open new opportunities for AESP members.
