“Knowledge is power. When you understand the process, you can choose what you want to do, delegate what you don’t like to do, push it to others…or outsource it! More importantly, you can talk like a boss. I say it again, knowledge is power.” – anonymous Utility Program Manager

Oh, all right, we admit it, we made that quote up to get your attention. No one we know talks like that. However, we’re pretty sure that many of you will secretly agree with some part of it i.e. that bit about talking with more confidence when you have knowledge backing you up.

This is one goal of AESP’s "Utilities Only" DSM Program Manager Workshop. The other goal is equipping you with all the necessary tools to successfully manage a DSM program, or your portion of it. This very thorough 1.5 day Program Manager Workshop will teach you everything you need to know in order to research, plan, design, launch, market, evaluate and report on a DSM program. It’s a start-to-finish, A-to-Z, soup to nuts on program management.

We really can’t think of another way you can acquire all this knowledge, unless you have very patient colleagues from all the different areas to teach you. And even if you do have great colleagues, will they have snazzy handouts, interactive group activities (with prizes to be won!) and entertaining, non-snoozy trainers who will ensure that you retain the information? AESP’s Program Manager Workshop has all these and more.

Whether your goal is to talk like a boss, be the boss, or simply master your job, “the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” (Lao Tzu actually said that) so register today for AESP’s DSM Program Manager Workshop.  (We said that.)

Suitable for:
Program managers who are new to the role or who have a few years’ experience.
Policy professionals, program planners/designers, marketers, evaluators and energy professionals in related areas who desire a comprehensive understanding of the program lifecycle and processes.

Julie Blackwell, Michaels Energy, has more than twenty years of work experience, over half in energy efficiency. Ms. Blackwell has been responsible for managing utility energy efficiency and demand response portfolios. She takes new product ideas  from concept to launch drawing on her marketing, strategic planning, recruiting, budget, and project management skills to bring client goals to reality.

Teri Lutz, Michaels Energy, has 25 years of experience working in the energy industry, 20 years working for a utility, and 6 years in consulting. While working for a utility, Teri was responsible for the development and delivery of the first-ever executive-level strategic planning and Balanced Scorecard6 workshops. These day-long workshops were attended by the company President, Vice Presidents, and Directors. The workshops stepped the executives through brainstorm exercises, what-if scenarios, and voice-of-the-customer explorations. The objectives were to identify new opportunities to better serve customers, improve operations, and ensure employee engagement. The outcomes included new products and programs (including energy efficiency), enhanced regulatory strategies, and Corporate-level strategic goals.

Martha (Thompson) Wudka, Evergreen Economics, has experience conducting energy efficiency program evaluations and market assessments for a variety of clients across the country and is well versed in reporting, analysis, in-depth interviews, and survey development. Ms. Wudka has managed the implementation of several surveys including phone interviews, on-site visits, and online interviews across the residential and commercial sectors. She has presented research findings at trade conferences including the International Energy Program Evaluation Conference; the International Conference on Energy Efficiency in Domestic Appliances and Lighting; and the Behavior, Energy and Climate Change conference. She has also conducted stakeholder workshops.
