AESP White Paper Series

As thought leaders in the energy services industry, AESP members have a plethora of case studies, theories, experiences and insights on a wide variety of areas. To provide a forum for sharing this knowledge, AESP has created a new online White Paper Series. We’re interested in publishing high-quality, peer-reviewed papers that will be featured in Strategies and archived on our White Paper Web page.

What are we Looking For?
The Editorial Board suggests that the papers be broad in scope. Additionally, papers presenting case studies and best practices are acceptable, along with academic-level research. The papers do not necessarily need to provide innovative new ideas. However, the content must be sufficiently original to avoid any copyright infringement.

White Papers can be submitted in the following areas of energy services:

* Program Implementation * Program Design
* Market Research * Evaluation
* Pricing * Demand Response
* Technolog  * Marketing
* Policy  * Renewables
* Climate Change  * Emerging Trends

Guidelines for Submitting
To submit a paper to the AESP Editorial Board, please prepare it using the requested guidelines (
Paper Formatting, Example Paper, Reference Guide and Template Paper) and email it to Meg Matt, AESP’s President and CEO, at meg@aesp.org.

Peer Review Process
Papers will undergo double blind reviews. That is, the identity of the author and reviewers shall remain anonymous. The appropriate AESP Topic Committee chairs (or their designees) shall assign reviewers to the manuscripts.

Reviewers can recommend that the submission be accepted as is, rejected, accepted pending various changes, or re-submitted once the author(s) has addressed various comments or criticisms. Final decisions to accept a submission shall be made by the Topic Committee’s representative on the Editorial Board based on the reviews received.

Reviewers will be provided with instructions for reviewing papers and the standards against which papers should be judged. AESP will provide a form that reviewers shall be asked to complete. One of the reviewers’ responsibilities shall be to help ensure that the submission is sufficiently original and that previous articles and reports in the field are appropriately cited.

It is our goal to have each submission reviewed by three reviewers within one month following submission.

Copyright Transfer
To ensure that AESP has the legal rights to make the papers available through its Web site and to eventually include the papers in a compendium, authors will need to
transfer copyrights to AESP. Through this transfer, authors will also need to confirm that the content that they are providing to AESP has not previously been published or protected by copyright.  Click here to download the copyright form.
